Cassandra is best known for her portrayal of the horror hostess character Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. At 30 years old, Cassandra was struggling as an actress in 1981 when she landed a local gig as the host of a B-rated horror film show for a Los Angeles television station. She created a spooky look for her character and after tossing out ideas with a friend, Elvira, Mistress of The Dark was born.
